Oh yeah, 1 more event in July is the Cosfest on 10 July at Downtown East. ALthough a bit ....actually very late late, I finally managed to get the photos from my mobile phone downloaded to my PC.They are pretty low quality, but might as well put a few up to let the non-otakus what "cosplay" is all about.
For the uninitiated, Cosplay means "A contraction (or portmanteau) of the English words "costume" and "play", is a Japanese subculture centered on dressing as characters from manga, anime, and video games, and, less commonly, live action television shows, movies, or Japanese pop music bands." Source : Wikipedia
Basically it is an event where people dress up as their favourite anime and J-Rock characters and mingle around, take photos, perform short skits, etc, all in the name of fun and fandom. The costumes can be bought, but most people usually make their own costumes. And some of the costumes take weeks to make and can be very exquisite, following the original anime characters's costume right down to the minute detail.
Anyway, here are some photos from the cosfest. Taken with a VGA camera phone, so dun expect too much.
(The below images may be culturally shocking to non-otakus and not advisable for those viewed with a weak heart.....joking.:p)

FF7 group pic.Based of the Advent Children movie (coming soon!) I think.

Gigantic Haro-Haro cosplayer accompanied by other Gundam Seed cosplayers. LOL. Joking, the Haro Haro is a ballon, not a cosplayer.

Ayane and Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden.

Eclair from Kiddy Grade.

Mascot from the anime "Bleach". Seems to be the craze this year.

The guy on the right is the male winner of this years CosFest, cosplaying Ryuki(?) from Shaman King. His stage entrance was hilarious, guess that was why the judges gave him top prize
And surprisingly...

Batman....

and Predator....

And the final showdown we are all waiting to see...

Last but not least, My friends from the talented artist group, Wings.
They design very nice anime CG pictures. ;)
